A New Kids Show From Fulldome Basement!

Mice and the Moon

A tale about two little mice, Pip and Chip

We're pleased to announce a new show: Mice and the Moon. This immersive fulldome video, a fanciful tale for curious kids of all ages, comes from Fulldome Basement, our newest partner, from Minsk, Belarus.

Pip and Chip wondered, "Does anybody bite the big Moon Cheese shining in the sky?"

The Bats didn't know the answer; neither did the Wise Owl.

But luckily Pip and Chip met two astronomy-savvy robots who explained what the Moon really is. They told about the Moon's maria — seas without water or Moon fish. They showed the Moon's craters through the telescope.

Pip and Chip were impressed; they wished they could fly to the Moon one day!

Our Holiday Special for you!

Season of Light

HD available to rent/stream — or buy/download!

We know your audiences may be missing their annual tradition of seeing our show Season of Light on your dome. With the pandemic continuing, we're offering consumer-friendly methods of delivering the goods — now in flat-screen HD form.

Classroom/lecture hall audiences

Last year, we added HD format flat-screen movies to selected rental packages on FULLDOME OnDemand. These are intended for classroom or lecture hall showings; your projector is just trained on a flat screen instead of your dome. We didn't increase prices for the addition either; you just rent/stream as usual. But obviously socially-distanced audiences need to be there to see it.

Online audiences

We continue to field questions about how you could stream these movies to audiences over the Internet. One method that's been tried is renting the package as usual, then hosting a Zoom call — streaming the movie and hoping "Share Screen" works (and assuming everyone on the call has enough bandwidth to handle 30fps). For our usual rental method, it might be worth a try. You will want to optimize Zoom for video in its Settings.

For those who want to offer the show on their own Websites, we have another option: buy/download the HD movie. The download package comes with our permission for posting on a school/institutional webserver. We expect you to put it on a private Web page, and share the link by email with your audience members.

Holiday gift-giving

And we continue to get inquiries from the general public for Season of Light. They say, "With COVID-19, we can't go to our local planetarium, but have enjoyed seeing this production every year." To meet these requests, we're offering just the HD show as a standalone streaming rental, or a purchased download for individual/home use — at an affordable, wallet-friendly price point!

If you're a planetarium director, you can just point people to our Season of Light page here. You might consider buying some shows as gifts for your family, friends and supporters. Our Purchase Page on Vimeo OTT has a Gift this option that allows you to pay, and send the redeem codes to the lucky recipients.

Virtual planetarium theater experience

Of course if audiences can't be in your dome theater, the next best thing is to experience the dome theater virtually. Since 2016, we've operated the VR Dome Theater website to do just that. There you can stream or download our movies in 4K equirectangular form, to watch on VR headsets and mobile devices. Here on our Season of Light page, we've included links to our Vimeo On Demand VR Dome Theater page for the show.

Finally, flagSeason of Light is available in all formats, in Spanish! Feliz Navidad!

New Show from a Familiar Producer... Loch Ness Productions!

EXOPLANETS - Discovering New Worlds

Welcome to the Great Age of Extrasolar Planet Finding!

We're pleased to announce a new show: EXOPLANETS - Discovering New Worlds. This immersive fulldome video blends science, documentary-style storytelling, and a touch of science fiction into a compelling look at our search for planets around alien worlds.

It's a timely, up-to-date look at the hunt for extrasolar planets. So far, astronomers have found thousands of alien worlds, ranging from hot Jupiters to super-Earths. Discovering extrasolar planets is one thing; finding places that might be hospitable to life is the next challenge.

This show explains the search methods astronomers employ at both ground- and space-based observatories, detailing the CoRoT, Kepler, and TESS missions. It takes audiences on imaginative journeys to possible worlds where life may someday be found.

Explore the latest in exoplanet detection methods and the search for habitable worlds.

Introducing...

Dome Shows At Home banner

FULLDOME OnDemand has been streaming quality fulldome content to theaters around the world since 2015.

Now, we are pleased to expand our service through a new, limited-time, On Demand program called DOME SHOWS AT HOME. It aims to provide our popular movies direct to virtual visitors, home-learners, and science-curious families — in short, your audiences!

The idea is simple: we partner with your facility to stream selected shows directly to your patrons. A portion of the revenues generated by DOME SHOWS AT HOME will be shared with our program partners. A win-win for all of us!

We don't know when your domes will be fully open to the public again, to share the night skies and fulldome videos with your audiences. Until then, this initiative aims to provide awe-inspiring content directly to your 'off-campus' supporters during these challenging times.

Looking for ways to serve your visitors, educators, social media followers, and members at home?
We have a popular selection of fulldome shows — let’s join forces!
